Shipyard news: CNB and Solaris grow togetherPhoto: CNB
Following the shipyard wedding 18 months ago, Solaris is starting production of two new CNB models in Aquileia, Italy.

CNB-Solaris is the name of the brand marriage concluded 18 months ago following the sale of CNB by the Beneteau Group. In the meantime, outstanding orders for the CNB66 and CNB76 had to be processed at the Beneteau site in Monfalcone, northern Italy. Meanwhile, Solaris was preparing the production lines for the new models in nearby Aquileia: CNB78 and CNB88. The development team continues to be led by Philippe Briand and interior designer Jean Marc Piaton, with Vincent Arnaud heading up CNB. The first orders have been received for yachts due to be launched in spring 2023. Construction Navale Bordeaux (CNB) was founded over 30 years ago and is also known for its complex customised designs.

The CNB 88 will initially prove that design and quality will remain at the same level. "It is as functional as the successful CNB 76 model, but with more volume and refined details," explains brand director Vincent Arnaud. Philippe Briand was responsible for the hull lines, the exterior styling and the technical equipment of the 28 metre long, 6.75 metre wide and 3.25 metre draught sloop. The crew sets a 213 square metre mainsail on the 33 metre high mast, while a hydraulic furler in the bow unfurls the 188 square metre genoa at the touch of a button. A gennaker with a surface area of 490 square metres is used on rough courses. A Code 0 is also available in the wind on request. In harbour or in calm conditions, a Volvo engine with 165 kilowatts of power fills the tank with 3000 litres of diesel. Philippe Briand summarises his latest CNB design as follows: "The 88 is easy to sail, safe, fast and allows its owners to plan trips to far-flung destinations."
