The Damen Shipyards Group's yacht brand initially found an owner for the sixth Amels 60, which is already under construction and due to be launched in 2024. Two units of the lanky Espen Øino design are already afloat, including construction number one "Come Together", which was shown in Monaco. The 60 metre long and 830 gross ton semi-custom model advertises itself with hybrid propulsion, XXL sundeck with forward helipad and a nine-metre tender on the foredeck. With a speed of 13 knots and full bunkers, Damen's engineers calculate a range of 4,500 nautical miles; a maximum of 15.5 knots is possible, seven knots fully electrically. The Amels 60 has six guest cabins, two of which are located on the main deck and four one level below.
On the last day of the MYS, the Dutch then announced the sale of the first Amels 80, the 80 metre long flagship of the new semi-custom range from Espen Øino International. As the keel of the 2175 gross tonne six-decker was already laid in August without an owner in Galati, Romania, delivery is scheduled for 2025. After completion of the steel-aluminium hull, work will continue in Vlissingen, where the interior will also be fitted to Sinot specifications.
Amels has also been rebranded and now operates independently of Damen Yachting (SeaXplorer, Yacht Support) and more strongly as an independent brand. Accordingly, there is a new website: amelsyachting.com
