Dutchman Arjan Oude Kotte builds yachts from Lego bricks. They stand on top of the originals or are given away as cut-down kits by owners.

Arjan Oude Kotte is something of a star in the Lego fan community. Kotte does not build spaceships or knight's castles according to the specifications of the Danish toy designers, but instead creates his own ship models from the world-famous plastic bricks. In addition to ferries, tugboats and icebreakers, his references now also include yachts. For the owner of the 63 metre long "Scout", built by Hakvoort, he developed a 1:53 scale model with tenders and lighting as well as 25 building sets, each made of 782 bricks, to give as gifts.

Exclusive gift: One of 25 building sets consisting of 782 bricks, which the owner gives away to selected people.

The current project by Kotte and his company Konajra was just as complex: to create a one-metre-long Lego model of "Najiba", he first spent six weeks planning with a Lego CAD program and then assembled the 58-metre-long Feadship from 7,000 bricks within four weeks. Over the past nine years, Kotte and his team have created 33 models for 21 clients, using over 1.5 million Lego bricks. Incidentally, not a single part is glued together; each yacht model can be completely taken apart again.
