Heesen's CEO Arthur Brouwer commented on the good demand situation as follows: "This is not a post-pandemic euphoria, but a trend that is likely to continue for some time." At the end of 2020, the shipyard from Oss only found owners for two yachts shortly before completion.
Project "Sapphire" will be the latest Book-Ends motor yacht. Following the successful sale of the eponymous 47 metre from 2017, Amy and Bob Book returned for the construction of their second Heesen. The Dutch-built 50 metre class is the first of its kind under 500 Gross Tons to comply with IMO Tier III regulations. SCR catalytic converters reduce nitrogen oxide emissions. Owner Bob Book said during a visit to the shipyard in August: "The technology is truly amazing. Imagine a 50 metre long semi-glider with a draught of 2.15 metres and a top speed of 23 knots. This yacht is perfect for both the Bahamas and the Mediterranean. Needless to say, she is beautiful, sexy, spacious, stable and fast!" Up to ten guests - the owners occupy the forward main deck - are spread over four cabins, which the client and his family personalise with Cristiano Gatto, as do all the other living areas.
Fraser Yachts was also able to win over a US owner for "Aura", who immediately liked the Clifford Denn lines. Heesen developed the interior together with Reymond Langton. The contract was finalised in a record time of just 20 days.
The 50-metre steel-aluminium format "Aura" is scheduled for delivery in April 2022, while the aluminium "Sapphire" of the same length will be delivered in June 2022. This means that there is "only" one yacht left in the halls of the Dutch shipyard that has not been sold: the 54-metre "Akira" project.
