She almost shed a tear as she stepped onto the Isola di San Giorgio Maggiore for the world premiere of the MCY 96, just opposite the famous St Mark's Square in Venice. This is where the era of Monte Carlo Yachts began for Carla Demaria in 2010, when she presented the first model - a 76-footer designed by Nuvolari-Lenard - as president of the newly founded shipyard. Some people turned up their noses at the time: founding a shipyard in the middle of a sales crisis with just one model? Today, seven years later, Demaria smiles about it. "Back then," she says, "we had 20 employees, today we have 440. Back then we had 1,000 square metres of workspace in Monfalcone, today we have 45,000." A success story that brought together around 400 customers and friends of the shipyard on the Isola at the end of July to see the seventh MCY model for the first time in a tried-and-tested, exclusive setting.
Incidentally, the whole event took place under the watchful eyes of the water police. After the dress rehearsal the evening before was disrupted by boats with drunken guests and loud music, the officers promised to "keep an eye" on the world premiere the following morning. It goes without saying that there was not even the slightest hint of an incident ...
