Flybridge or open - this is often a question of faith. We tested and compared two of these boats in the 43-foot class.

A manual folding sunroof is integrated into the Bavaria's hardtop, which can be easily opened and closed by hand and transforms the boat into an open cockpit when open. The Bavaria is open aft, while the Absolute can be separated between the saloon and cockpit with a sliding glass door. Due to the design, the covered space on the Absolute is closed. It is a typical flybridge boat with a second helm station and seating and sunbathing areas on the upper deck.

The dimensions differ significantly: with an overall length of 14.99 metres, the Bavaria is larger than the Absolute at just 13.65 metres. The two boats also differ in width: 4.41 metres for the Bavaria and 4.15 metres for the Absolute. This is noticeable below deck, where the German offers more space and consistently greater headroom than the Italian. On the other hand, the latter has additional feel-good areas on the bunk. Below deck, both boats can be ordered with either two or - like our test candidates - three cabins. There are two WC/shower rooms in each case, but they are smaller than in the two-cabin versions. On the Bavaria, the toilet and shower are located in two separate rooms due to the extra space in the bow area.

On the boats, the bow cabins are reserved for the owners and the two cabins below the cockpit or saloon floor for the guests, who share a wet room that is also accessible from a guest cabin. Both boats also share the pantries on the cabin floor. On the Bavaria, the galley is larger and a dinette has been built in, where four people can sit comfortably on the bench at the table. On the Absolute, you can sit and eat at the table behind the driver's seat to starboard in the U-shaped saloon seating area.

Conclusion: The Bavaria Sport 43 HT and the Absolute 43 Fly are boats with "good-natured" handling characteristics and are easy to manoeuvre in the harbour thanks to the joystick systems. Due to the larger dimensions, the living area of the Bavaria is more spacious.......
