TextOur Flyer 34 test boat is labelled "GT". In cars, GT vehicles were those that differed from pure sports cars in that they were more comfortable, had a larger interior and were more suitable for travelling long distances in comfort. Applied to our test boat, this means: "It has a bit of everything".
In terms of workmanship, we criticise the fact that the bulkhead openings are mostly without edge protection, which is not good for cables or hoses in the long term and leads to a downgrade in the installations. We rate the plastic processing as "sufficient", where you can see untreated gelcoat areas on the inside of the hardtop and most of the visible plastic cut edges remain untreated. In contrast, the exterior of the 34 GT makes a good, high-gloss impression. We also appreciate the woodwork below deck and the double-shell construction in the engine compartment.
Driving and manoeuvring
Two engines with Z-drives and the joystick aquamatics from Volvo Penta allow the boat to travel at slow speed in any direction, where even beginners need not fear narrow pits. The catch: the system costs extra. But even without the manoeuvring aid, with a little practice the boat will go forwards and backwards wherever you want. At slow speeds, the two diesel engines should not turn more than 1000 rpm (6 knots) so that the waves generated by the boat do not interfere.
The entire test can be found in the current issue of BOOTE 9/11.
