Our test editors have worked their way through a wide range of boats - from compact trailer boats to models for long cruises. The Infinity 575 MC and the sporty Aquaspirit S530 RIB from Ukrainian production are interesting for beginners. Those who value versatility will find the Brig Navigator 22 an ideal all-rounder for fishing, diving and wakeboarding.
The test editors also scrutinised electric boats, including the Axopar AX/E 25 Cross Top with a powerful Evoy electric outboard motor and the German solar boat Voyager 900e for almost unlimited self-sufficiency.
Torsten Moench has been a member of the BOOTE editorial team since 1991 and is now responsible for the selection of test boats and administration in the background. After completing two technical apprenticeships, he studied engineering. In his private life, Moench mainly travels on the Elbe, the waters of northern Germany and the Baltic Sea. "For me, the biggest technical challenge in the coming years will be the further development of electric boat drives."
Ralf Marquard has been working in the BOOTE editorial team since 1997 and was trained as a test editor there. He tests both small inflatable boats and larger yachts. His personal boat is a 4.50 metre long, self-built wooden boat with a 50 hp outboard motor. He not only writes about boats, but also technical articles about boats. One important topic is often the type of drive. His observation: "The trend towards powerful outboards is continuing."
Ole Puls is the youngest member of the BOOTE editorial team. He has been on board since 2022 and has been working in the test editorial team ever since. Thanks to his previous training as a boat builder at a high-tech shipyard in Kiel, he has a keen eye for quality and workmanship. When he is not testing boats or equipment, he is out and about on the Baltic Sea or the Schlei. His claim: "A boat must be tested in the way that the owner will actually use it later."
Dieter Wanke has been working as a freelance editor for the BOOTE editorial team in the areas of testing, technology and travel since 2014. He studied industrial design and photography and began his career in the automotive and aerospace industries. Having been involved in water sports since childhood, including Atlantic crossings, he also began working as an editor in the motor press and for water sports magazines in the mid-1990s. His motto is: "There's no such thing as impossible."
