The eD-Tec 32 is available with cruising and performance battery packs and can reach speeds of up to 50 knots. It not only has a standard AC charger with 22 kW, but also a DC fast charger with 150 kW. According to the shipyard, this allows the batteries to be charged up to 80 per cent in just 40 minutes. eD-Tec is also currently developing a battery pack with a higher capacity, which will enable up to 140 kWh batteries for an even greater range and operating time. Batteries with even greater range and operating time are expected to be available in the second half of 2024. The hull was built by Sven Akermann. He is the founder and shipyard manager of SAY Carbon Yachts. The shipyard near Lake Constance builds motorboats from 29 to 52 feet in length.
According to eD-Tec, the boat is suitable both as a superyacht tender and for the leisure market. The team worked on the development and construction of the high-performance RIB for nine months. A strategic alliance was formed with partners from the electromobility sector to realise the project. The first boat is currently being trialled and will be delivered in early summer this year. The RIB offers a good platform for exploring lakes and coastal areas. The c-ultra is emission and noise-free and highly manoeuvrable thanks to an optional jet thruster system. The hull is foilable and customers have the option of choosing a foil assist system, which increases the range and supports sea behaviour. The design allows for a variety of application profiles, not only in the superyacht and leisure market, but also in other areas such as water police.
The boat is also equipped with a central steering console with two seats and two plotters for navigation. Various options such as additional awnings, a toilet, a shower and an entertainment system can also be selected. If desired, it can also be fitted with solar panels on the hardtop.
Overall, the eD 32 c-ultra RIB offers a powerful and environmentally friendly solution for water sports. It combines eD-TEC's revolutionary electric propulsion system with a high-quality carbon hull design to offer high speeds, long range and flexibility.
"High-performance electric boats are still a niche market. But we believe that the eD 32 c-ultra is perfect as a tender for superyachts and for customers with villas on the lake or on the shore who want an electric boat at the end of their jetty," says Michael Jost, CEO of eD-Tec
"It's been a long road to get here," concludes Michael Jost, "although the problems we encountered during the development of the system often had less to do with the technological leaps we made than with traditional problems such as design issues and the watertightness of the original test platforms."
