It was economic reasons that led the traditional Norwegian brand Fjord to switch to the Hansegroup in Greifswald a few years ago, which is primarily known for building sailing boats. In addition to the classic Fjord Terne day cruiser motorboats, Hanse is apparently focusing on the "fashion trend" and has now, it seems, modelled itself on the extravagant, famous Wally ...
As a result, the Fjord 36 Open is a boat with a centre console with a seat on the front wall of the cabin below. In the bow
a seating area with table, and the open stern is dominated by a large sunbed.
Like its (more than twice as expensive) "doppelganger" Wally One, the 36 Open is intended as a feeder for sailors and as a crew transporter, but also as a tender for large motor yachts. That is why there are folding Z-drives and no IPS drives that protrude from under the boat. In any case, you can have a lot of fun with the Fjord 36 Open.
Our test boat is a concept boat, which means that it is still being further developed and improved. However, Hanse has done its homework and there is little to criticise about the plastic work and the finish of the fittings. Some of the finishing touches are lacking, which the shipyard is aware of. There is also a need for action in the electrical and technical installations, especially in the engine compartment ventilation, where we measured an intake air temperature of 40 °C at 10 °C outside.
Our test boat is equipped with Volvo Penta's joystick Aquamatic as standard, which makes manoeuvring in displacement mode child's play. The boat can be manoeuvred in every conceivable direction; narrow mooring boxes are no longer a problem, and we keep the engine speed at 900 rpm and a maximum speed of 7 knots so that the waves generated at slow speed do not interfere. Without trimming too much, the Fjord 36 Open begins to glide from 1500 rpm or 19 knots. The bow lowers barely noticeably from 2300 rpm, indicating that full planing speed has been reached. At full throttle, the engines turn at the maximum permitted by the manufacturer. The maximum speed is logged in the GPS at a brisk 43 knots.
The entire test can be found in the current BOOTE 05/12.
