Hyper 5S: Sacs supplies a RIB with a cabin and a choice of four propulsion options

The Sacs shipyard is expanding its range to include the Hyper 5S, a maxi-class RIB. With a length of 14.6 metres and a beam of 4.6 metres, this model is positioned in the premium segment. The shipyard commissioned Christian Grande to develop the design, which features a continuous deck and fold-out side balconies. CE Category B certification allows it to be used in coastal waters with wind forces of up to eight and wave heights of up to four metres. The Hyper 5S is certified to carry 18 passengers.

One boat, four propulsion options

The Hyper 5S can be ordered with four different propulsion options. The first option comprises three Volvo Penta Z-drives, each producing 480 PS, whilst the second configuration features two Volvo Penta IPS 800 units, each producing 600 PS. As a third option, Sacs offers two MAN inboard engines, each with 850 PS. The fourth variant consists of four Mercury Verado outboard engines, available either as a V12 with 600 PS or a V10 with 425 PS. Depending on the engine configuration, the fuel tank holds either 2,000 litres for the Volvo and MAN propulsion systems or 3,600 litres for the Mercury outboard motors.

Berths on board the Hyper 5S

Below deck, Sacs has fitted out an owner’s cabin with a double bed. The layout includes a separate bathroom with a separate shower cubicle. Another area can be converted into a second sleeping area, meaning the boat offers a total of three fixed berths and one additional sleeping space. The fresh water tank holds 330 litres, whilst the waste water tank holds 70 litres. The headroom is 3.98 metres. According to the manufacturer, large windows are designed to let daylight into the interior. The deck of the Hyper 5S offers 25 square metres of usable space. When the side balconies are extended, this area increases to 32 square metres.

Market launch and target audience

Sacs will be showcasing the Hyper 5S for the first time this summer at its own destination events. The international premiere will follow in September at the Cannes Yachting Festival. According to the company, the model marks a shift in its product strategy, moving away from the previous Strider and Rebel series towards larger vessels with more living space. The Hyper 5S is designed to appeal to buyers looking for a RIB with overnight accommodation and a range of propulsion options.
