Cap Camarat is located at the end of the beaches of St. Tropez and is the namesake of a whole series
of outboard sports boats from Jeanneau. They are either open at the front, come as day cruisers or, like our test boat, have a large sun deck at the front plus a cabin underneath.
The CC 7.5 WA can be equipped with a maximum of either two outboard engines with 150 hp each or one with 300 hp. The shipyard recommends 250 hp. We drive the test boat with a four-stroke Mercury 250 XL Verado PRO. In terms of workmanship, the French deliver a predominantly good boat, apart from a few minor details. Glossy gelcoat on the outside and sealed laminate on the inside are impressive. Criticism is levelled at the untreated plastic cut edges, the too-cornered retaining plates on the windscreen and the untreated openings where cables or hoses rub against the cut edges. However, you can also see some that are fitted with rubber grommets. There is nothing to criticise about the Alpi wood finish or the upholstery. Overall, the test boat leaves a good impression.
In the harbour, it moves forwards or with the gear engaged backwards to where it needs to go. The full circles measure around 1 1⁄2 boat lengths. When reversing with the gear engaged in reverse, it reacts directly, and longer reversing journeys are successful without any misalignment. We sail the slow passages at a maximum speed of 1500 rpm (6 knots) so that the waves generated by the boat do not interfere.
