The Milan shipyard Lomac is expanding its Turismo series with the new 8.5 model. The boat measures 8.50 metres in overall length and offers space for up to 14 people. The market launch is planned for the Genoa Boat Show 2026.
Lomac is positioning the new Turismo 8.5 between compact day boats and larger touring models. The shipyard from Milan is thus continuing its strategy, which began in 2022 with the Turismo 7.0, of appealing to different buyer groups with specifically designed models. The 8.5-metre segment is considered to offer a balance between transportability, performance and use of space.
Designer Federico Fiorentino is responsible for the hull and superstructure. He transfers design elements from the larger Lomac models to the more compact length. The look is based on the military style with clear lines and minimalist design. Lomac calls this the "heavy-duty military look" of the new Turismo series.
The stern has a split bathing platform. This is adjoined by a cockpit with a U-shaped seating area that can accommodate up to eight people. The lowerable table transforms the seating area into a sunbathing area. The skipper and co-driver sit at the helmstand on split seats with a built-in cool box. There is another sunbathing area in the bow with storage space underneath.
The central console with its modern design contains a space that is accessible from the front. This can be used as a chemical or on-board toilet, or alternatively as storage space, changing room or weather protection.
Buyers can choose between two T-top variants. The first consists of a stainless steel frame with fabric covering. The second uses a rigid construction made of a composite material with aramid and carbon fibres.
The motorisation ranges from single outboards with 250 to 425 hp to twin engines with 200 hp each. The maximum engine output is 400 hp. Lomac specifies maximum speeds of over 50 knots.
Fiorentino developed the hull using CFD simulations (computational fluid dynamics). The shipyard then carried out validation tests. According to the manufacturer, the hull should run efficiently at all speeds and remain stable even in rough seas.
The tubes are made of Hypalon neoprene from Orca Pennel & Flipo. This material is recognised in the industry as resistant and durable. The unladen weight is estimated at 1,800 kilograms and the CE approval allows 14 people on board.
Fabrizio Lo Manto, Managing Director of Lomac, explains the model strategy: every new boat has to fit into an overall concept in which design, technology and product philosophy harmonise. The size of the Turismo 8.5 was strategically chosen for the market.
Lomac Milano was founded in 1960 and is now owned by the third generation of the Lo Manto family. The shipyard builds inflatable boats in the upper market segment with Italian manufacturing. Each model can be customised with numerous options. The current product range comprises 58 models in six series. Lomac sells its boats through around 70 dealers in 20 countries worldwide.
