The MX-16 boats were unveiled at the 2024 Cannes Yachting Festival, where not only this version was on show, but also the heavier M-16, which differs in terms of its engine and hull design. The M-16 is powered by two Volvo Penta IPS-800 propulsion systems and, according to the shipyard, can reach a top speed of 40 knots. The MX-16 version runs with three Mercury 600 hp outboards and a special hull.
We travelled the Mediterranean with the MX-16. The three outboards accelerate the boat to just under 49 knots, at which point around 575 litres/hour run through the fuel lines. The shipyard recommends cruising speeds of between 25 and 30 knots. At a good 27 knots, consumption is 234 litres/hour, which with a 2000 litre tank capacity gives a range of around 200 nautical miles plus 15% reserve. Fast bends can be negotiated safely and waves are skipped smoothly. The boat is operated via smooth steering, gears and a joystick system. The driver and two co-pilots are seated on three sporty individual seats.
Comfortable cushion units on the foredeck and in the cockpit ensure comfort on board. A large bathing platform and ladder complete the fun in the open air. Below deck, there are two double berths, a seating area with table and two heads compartments. A crew cabin can even be ordered aft on the MX-16 version that we drove.
