The X-Star is an icon of the wakeboard scene. Now, after 14 years, Mastercraft has relaunched the boat - bigger, stronger and even more sophisticated.

The boat builders in the US state of Tennessee took their time: in 1996, the original of the Mastercraft X-Star and quickly became a firm favourite in the wakeboard scene and perhaps the most sought-after boat of all. It was clear that the new edition would need more than a simple facelift to meet the high expectations of the fans.

The result is inspiring, even if you have no connection to wakeboarding: The new X-Star has not only been designed down to the last pinprick, but also offers more space and power, so that the 7.32 metre long boat is a convincing piece of sports equipment and floating lounge. Bigger, better, they call it in America. A maximum of 15 people can be accommodated on board the bowrider. The exact motorisation has only been determined provisionally so far, but the X-Star's built-in petrol engine is likely to have around 500 hp.

Christian Tiedt was born in Hamburg in 1975, but grew up in the northern suburbs of the city - except for numerous visits to the harbor, North Sea and Baltic Sea, but without direct access to water sports for a long time. His first adventures then took place on dry land: With the classics from Chichester, Slocum and Co. After completing his vocational training, his studies finally gave him the opportunity (in terms of time) to get active on the water - and to obtain the relevant licenses. First with cruising and then, when he joined BOOTE in 2004, with motorboats of all kinds. In the meantime, Christian has been able to get to know almost all of Europe (and some more distant destinations) on his own keel and prefers to share his adventures and experiences as head of the travel department for YACHT and BOOTE in cruise reports.
