Nordkapp is expanding the Airborne series with the 5.44 metre long model 5.4. The RIB offers a straight bow design and space for up to six people.

Topics in this article

The Airborne 5.4 is the smallest model from the Norwegian shipyard Nordkapp. With a length of 5.44 metres and a width of 2.40 metres, the boat falls into the category of compact RIBs. The unladen weight is 827 kilograms. It is approved in accordance with CE category C for coastal waters.

Fuselage construction and drive

The manufacturer has opted for a straight bow design for the Airborne 5.4. According to Nordkapp, this design extends the waterline, making the boat behave like a larger model. The fuel tank has a capacity of 100 litres and there is a choice of three Mercury outboard engines: The F80 ELPT EFI with 80 hp is included in the basic version. Alternatively, there is the 115 ELPT EFI with 115 hp for an extra charge of 2,023 euros or the F115 ELPT Pro XS EFI with 115 hp for an additional 3,094 euros.

Cockpit layout and equipment

Buyers can choose between two seat variants at the helm. The twin-chair configuration comprises two separate bucket seats with lateral support. The bolster variant enables a higher driving position and is aimed at users who prefer a more active driving posture. An enlarged bench seat can be optionally installed in the rear. The front area can be equipped with additional storage space including upholstery, on which a reclining surface can optionally be mounted.

Nordkapp offers two equipment packages. The Highline package for €2,428 includes the Simrad NSX 3009 chartplotter and a Simrad XSONIC AIRMAR P19 transducer, while the Highline Plus package costs €3,772 and adds a Fusion RA 210 Bluetooth stereo with two 6.5-inch speakers, each with 200 watts, and an XL mooring kit to the electronics. Individual items available include LED cockpit lighting, handrails on the port and starboard sides and a bimini top with optional sun awning for the bow.

Colour design and price

Black, white and grey are available for the hull colour. The S-deck surface is available in dark grey, light grey and light camel. Buyers can choose from nine predefined colour combinations that combine different hull, tube and deck colours. The antifouling coating is available at no extra charge.
