The discovery of slowness certainly has its appeal, but the people at the US powerboat manufacturer Formula have so far failed to realise it ...

With the US boys from Formula Boats things have always had to be quick. However, this does not mean that convenience is a foreign concept for Vic Porter and his employees. On the contrary. In the Fastech series, which was launched in 1997, this is most evident in the driving characteristics.

The fact is that the hull design, which is designed for rough water comfort and high speeds, demands powerful engines. And the 382, which measures 11.63 metres, only comes with two of them. The top model is a ten-cylinder petrol engine from Ilmor, which delivers an impressive 725 hp to the racing prop, accelerating the attractive racer to 86 kn (that's 160 km/h!) when required. Also on board are a double bed, comfortable bench seats, a separate toilet room and a galley with sink and fridge.
