The fascination with larger RIBs has increased significantly. These rigid-hull inflatable boats are particularly suitable for powerful four-stroke outboards, which have become increasingly popular on the market in recent years.
Our test package consists of a ZAR rigid inflatable boat and a Suzuki 225 hp four-stroke engine. A detailed comparison test in BOOTE 1/09 shows how the Suzuki performs on the test boat against competitors with outboards of the same power.
The boat and engine together weigh a good 1100 kg, but due to the length, the importer Nautikpro recommends a 2000 kg trailer. The shipyard specifies category B as the sailing area, which means outside coastal waters.
In such areas, you can have to deal with waves of up to 4 metres and winds of 8 Beaufort. Our test area, the Main, does not offer such waves, but only those from inland waterway vessels, which the test boat with its special hull roundings skips smoothly at high speed without any problems.
To change from displacement to gliding speed, the power trim should be set to the "down" position.
