The smallest Open of the Quicksilver brand, the 5.07 m long Activ, offers seating for all five authorised passengers. The shipyard recommends sailing in coastal waters (CE category C). In addition to the skipper, there is sufficient space for a co-driver at the helm. The upholstery (optional) of the bench seat is firm and ensures good seating comfort on longer trips. An adjustable and padded bar serves as the backrest, which can be used as a seat backrest in the foremost position when standing.
A non-tinted plastic windscreen set in a stainless steel frame protects the driver and front passenger from wind and spray water. The escort uses the latter as a handhold in choppy water. In the stern of the sports boat, the designer has accommodated a full-width bench seat with table. There is storage space under the seat, and two further storage options can be accessed from the bow. Anchors and lines can be stored under the bow seat.
A cassette toilet can be easily accommodated in the centre console; the large hatch is held open by two gas pressure dampers. We were told by the shipyard that the fit is still being improved. Apart from that, the GRP work is well done except for minor areas without protective coating. The same applies to the installation of the engine, steering, instruments and gearstick. Everything is easy to operate and read.
For road transport, the trailer captain needs a braked trailer in the 1000 kg class, as the 505 Open quickly weighs 900 kg with engine, fuel and equipment. With a width of
2.12 m wide, no special licence is required for road transport.
