Sea Ray is a name that is not only highly regarded in America, but also in Europe. One popular series is the Sundancer range: boats with sleeping facilities and attractive equipment. Our test boat, the 255, offers a seating area in the bow that can be converted into a double berth and a double berth in the underfloor cabin. The wet room, pantry block and practically divided cockpit provide additional living quality.

The shipyard specifies "coastal waters" (CE category C) as the sailing area. An assessment that puts them on the safe side. The Sea Ray can easily cope with waves up to a "significant wave height" of two metres.

However, the Sea Ray can not only be used as a cruising boat, but also as a "fun boat" for the family. For example, the standard water ski hook offers the option of hanging a tube, wakeboard or water skis behind the boat. Although the stern wave is not optimally flat for water skiing, it is quite acceptable for water skiing amateurs.

The full test can be found in the current March issue.

Ralf Marquard discovered his enthusiasm for boating on the tranquil Aller, first with inflatable boats and later with a 6-meter cabin cruiser. His electrical engineering studies at HAW Hamburg took him from the southern Heidekreis (Lower Saxony) to the Hanseatic city. Ralf Marquard has been working for the BOOTE editorial team since 1997, where he trained as a test editor. He tests both small inflatable boats and larger yachts. His personal boat is a 4.50 meter long, self-built wooden boat with a 50 hp outboard motor. In 2007, he was appointed deputy editor-in-chief at BOOTE.
