With the launch of the new SLX 360 Outboard at CES 2026 in Las Vegas, Sea Ray is making a clear statement in the premium dayboat market. The 36-foot model combines state-of-the-art marine technology with luxurious equipment and a remarkably intuitive operating concept - and shows where the class of sporty, elegant dayboats is heading. We show the first pictures of the new model.

The SLX 360 Outboard was developed at the ultra-modern Brunswick Technology Centre in Florida. The result is a boat that seamlessly combines the expertise of several Group brands. This is particularly evident in the cockpit, which Sea Ray describes as the most "car-like" in its history. And we can agree with the Americans, it is somewhat reminiscent of a Mercedes Benz V-Class.

Two Simrad Ultrawide NSX displays are the centrepiece at the helm, complemented by controls integrated into the steering wheel. The close networking with the three Mercury Verado outboards enables functions such as auto-routing, autopilot, automatic light control, precise joystick manoeuvring including bow thruster and comprehensive onboard diagnostics.

Comfort and spaciousness at yacht level

In addition to the technology, the SLX 360 Outboard impresses above all with its space concept. For a dayboat of this size, Sea Ray offers a remarkable amount of usable interior space. According to the shipyard, this includes an air-conditioned cockpit, a private cabin and a separate, fully-fledged washroom that can be accessed without leaving the sleeping area. A detail that is otherwise more familiar from larger yachts, but which is increasingly finding its way onto smaller boats too.

Large hull windows in the bow area provide plenty of daylight and an open feeling of space below deck. Outside, an electrically operated driver and passenger seating system, a convertible galley and the newly designed side bathing platform door significantly increase comfort on board.

The SLX 360 is also practical in terms of storage space and maintenance accessibility: a particularly large cockpit floor storage space, which is by no means a matter of course in this class, emphasises the practical nature of the concept.

Powerful and confident

The SLX 360 Outboard is powered by three Mercury 300 Verado V8 outboard engines as standard, including joystick piloting, Digital Throttle & Shift (DTS) and electronic steering. The boat thus combines sporty performance with precise handling, even in confined spaces or difficult conditions.

The boat can be optionally equipped with the Fathom e-Power energy management system and a gyro stabiliser, which significantly increases both efficiency and comfort. The integration of the new Simrad AutoCaptain has also been announced for the future.

Editor Test & Technology

Ole Puls was born in Schleswig in 1999. He quickly swapped the football pitch for the Schlei and grew up sailing a wide variety of dinghies and tall ships. From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
