Many owners who go on long trips with their cabin cruiser primarily want a comfortable speed and low fuel consumption. There's nothing wrong with that, but the cruising grounds are sometimes on coastal waters or fast-flowing rivers such as the Rhine and Elbe.
Going against the current can be quite annoying in the long run. We have already tested such a displacement boat in BOOTE 12/2014. It was also a Balt 818 Titanium. At that time, we were travelling with a 40 hp outboard motor, which only brought the semi-planing hull up to displacement speed.
That was the intention, as the boat mainly travelled on the waters around Brandenburg, where you are only allowed to travel slowly. But of course skippers also want to sail in other, faster areas.
A request that the Balt shipyard was also hearing more and more frequently. And it responded to its customers' wishes....
