After some difficult years and an insolvency with an immediate takeover by the experienced dealer Vladimir Zinchenko, the Slovenian Greenline shipyard is now back on the road to success with new owners and new management. The latest in a steady stream of new developments is the Greenline 45 Fly, which celebrated its world premiere in Cannes in September 2019. With this model too, the shipyard remains true to its principles and stands for rock-solid yachts with a high level of living comfort, combined with innovative drive concepts. After all, the brand started series production around ten years ago with the world's first hybrid drive. The concept has been further expanded in the current range. Every model is now available with conventional engines, hybrid technology and also as a purely electric version. So far, only Greenline has offered such an extensive range of options. The good basic equipment is also remarkable, as the anchor installation with 20 kg delta anchor, 50 metre chain and electric winch is standard, as are a bow thruster, the side exit and even the 600 watt solar system with 600 Ah AGM battery set for the on-board power supply.
The price structure starts at €594,405 with the basic engine configuration of two Yanmar 8LV-320s and shaft drives. An additional payment of €15,470 must be added for the hybrid version, and the fully electric version starts at €932,722.
The tour begins with the large bathing platform, in front of which there is a garage for dinghies or equipment. Hydraulics for lowering the platform or a stern galley are options. Steps on both sides lead into the cockpit. A sofa and a table - optionally made of teak - await aft. On the port and starboard sides, wide and well-secured gangways typical of the brand lead to the optional sun lounger in the bow. On the port side of the cockpit is the staircase to the flybridge. In addition to the open-air command post, a sun lounger can be ordered to starboard.
There is a seating area with table at the rear. A wet bar with barbecue and fridge can be ordered for catering. Back on the main deck, you can explore the saloon. It is separated from the cockpit by a glass door. In addition, a large glass panel on the starboard side can be folded up to reveal a bar area that connects the cockpit with the galley. The kitchen equipment includes a two-burner electric hob and a fridge-freezer combination. A microwave or oven and dishwasher are also available on request. Forward, after a step, there is an upholstered seating area with table to port and storage compartments with seat cushions to starboard. In front of this is the inside steering position, which can be equipped with everything the navigator's heart desires. The sliding door leading directly to the gangway is a practical feature.
The companionway leads to the cabins. An owner's cabin amidships and a very comfortable guest cabin in the bow are standard here. A unique feature of this size of boat is that both rooms have a large walk-in wardrobe. Naturally, they also have their own bathrooms with shower cubicles. If you need three cabins, you will have to do without the walk-in wardrobes, as this space is then taken up by the third sleeping compartment, which can be ordered with a single berth, two bunk beds or a double berth.
All rooms have large windows and can be easily ventilated via portholes. All in all, a well thought-out and flexible layout that can be easily adapted to individual requirements. This also applies to the choice of drives. In addition to twin systems with Yanmar 8LV-320 or 370, or 8LY-440 and shaft drive, there is a choice of Volvo Penta IPS 500 or 600. The hybrid version is also available with two D3-220s in combination with two electric drives with 14 kW each, which are powered by three lithium-polymer batteries with 13.3 kW/h each. A fully electric version with two Torqeedo 100 electric motors with shaft drives is also available, which are powered by two BMW i3 battery packs with 40 kWh each.
With the IPS 600 mounted in the test boat, we reached a stable planing speed of 15.2 kn after 7.5 seconds at 2400 rpm. After 24 seconds, the maximum speed of 32 kn was reached at nominal speed. The longest range with the 1500 litre tank can be achieved with 265 nm at just under 17 kn at 2500 rpm, with a 15 percent reserve. In the entire speed range between 14 and 30 knots, the range remains pleasingly constant and drops by a maximum of 15 nm. Typical for this type of propulsion, fast full circles at 25 knots are only possible with a large diameter of ten boat lengths. Manoeuvring with the joystick is child's play. The ride through waves is as smooth as butter and comfortable, and jerking the steering wheel has no effect. The safety equipment with manual and electric bilge pumps, fire extinguishing technology and an emergency escape hatch is just as faultless as the installation of all components and parts. The quality of workmanship is of a high standard throughout.
