The shipyard attaches great importance to recognisable features. The interior, hull and engine are colour-coordinated

Not only theInterior design is matched to the hull colour on our test boat, but so is the engine. In the past, this Mercury outboard would only have been available in black. TheColour design of Mercury/MerCruiser engines even goes so far that the brand is referred to as the "black ones".

TheDesign enthusiasm of the shipyards, however, has also prompted outboard motor manufacturers toMotors partly in other colours or have them painted. On our boat, the Mercury was given a white outfit and the "Invictus" lettering on the bonnet. That's what you call brand care.

Our test engine has one more special feature: it is equipped with a so-calledCT gearbox (CT = Command Thrust). It is larger, has a gear ratio of 2.38 : 1 and can therefore be used withPusher propellers be equipped. They ensure that heavy boats in particularNecessary accelerationto bring the boat quickly into planing speed.

Another plus:Water skier andWakeboarder are easier to pull out of the water and don't have to spend as long in the energy-intensive "launch mode". To be clear, the stern wave is not particularly high and steep when gliding, as wakeboarders like it, nor is it excessively flat, as on a real water ski boat. But it is perfectly acceptable for recreational skiers. When starting from a standing position, thePower trim to "down" so that the propeller has a good grip and the nose of the boat remains as low as possible.

Standing riders have no visibility problems during this transition phase, while seated riders are sometimes disturbed by the grab rail on the windscreen. From 4000 rpm, the nose goes down again automatically and the Invictus is brought into the correct position with the power trim (maximum ½ on the display).

An important side effect: without trim, the rudder pulls to starboard on its own, which improves when the outboard is trimmed. If you pull around too tightly in fast bends, you will notice that the propeller is gasping for air and you will have to restart. This happens faster with the outboard trimmed than without. The hull behaves safely and confidently when the steering is twisted and on slalom courses. The same applies when jumping over Lake Constance waves generated by pleasure craft and the "white fleet".

The aforementioned cruising area is also the reason for our test engine, as the limit for new outboards there is 100 hp. If you want everything to be a little faster and don't want to sail on Lake Constance, upgrade to themaximum 115 hp on. With our test engine, Lake Constance can be crossed about three times in length (approx. 63 km) without refuelling, which is quite an achievement for this type of boat.respectable performance is. Of course, this also works at a comfortable speed, at which the test boat drives straight ahead and even weight shifts do not put the hull on the wrong track.

Harbour manoeuvres? Everything is easy to manoeuvre.

However, you can't lean backwards, but have to lean forward a little to reach the steering wheel and gear lever, as the backrest of the otherwise attractive bench seat is a little too far back for a 1.80 metre tall person.

TheBackrest folding mechanismwhich integrates the bench into the rear cockpit area when folded down. The list of accessories includes a teak table and an extension to the bow sunbathing cushion and picnic table (front), a stern shower, a sunbed cover or a full cover.

There are accessories such as bags, towels and fenders with Invictus lettering to match the entire cockpit equipment and colour.

So that the sun doesn't get on your nerves too much, the shipyard provides aBimini roof as standard. If it's still too hot for you, you can use theBathing platform on port side with a standard ladder to get in and out of the water with ease.

Safety: We lack a hand pump and fire extinguisher here. Freedom of movement is provided by anti-slip structures and solid handrails.

CONCLUSION

The Invictus 190 FX is a classy and easily trailerable sports boat for swimming trips or exploring with family and friends. Activities such as waterskiing and tubing are great ways to keep the carpool happy.
