Test Jeanneau CC 10.5 WA
Concept: France. Fuselage design: USA. V8 engines: Japan. The result is a family boat that packs a punch.

Cap Camarat are called by Jeanneau the sports boats for outboard motors. They are available with a central steering position and an all-round open cockpit, as a day cruiser and in the version with a sun deck above the cabin at the front, where you can walk around the steering position. They are then called WA, Walk Around.

Two V8 outboard engines turn the family boat into a thoroughbred cruising machine.

Our test boat CC 10.5 WA keeps up with the design of its smaller WA sisters above water and offers a unique design under water.Stepped hullwhich was specially designed for the US Navy and is being used for the first time in this series. Below deck, our Cap Camarat offers a separate bathroom, a galley and two cabins with four berths for adults.

Our test boat with theBuilding number one is equipped with two 350 hp V8 engines, which can be operated using a joystick in addition to the normal steering at slow speed. This allows the boat to be moved in any direction, making mooring manoeuvres child's play.

A full galley and large bathroom make the CC 10.5 WA a comfortable holiday boat for four people.

Thanks to its two motors, the 10.5 WA can be driven by itself.without joystick manoeuvre well in the harbour. There we only let both engines turn up to 800 rpm and during the slow passages only up to 1500 rpm so as not to create excessive waves at a speed of 4 to 7 knots.

With good foresight, our test boat goes from 9 kn (2500 rpm) quickly intoSliding drive which, thanks to thestepped hull without any major trim changes. With both levers on the table and little power trim, a little more than48 kn in the GPS. The motors rotate at 100 rpm more than the manufacturer allows, which speaks in favour of suitable propellers in view of the low load.

After analysing our measurement data, we determine an engine speed and speed range of 3500 to 4500 rpm or 22 to 35 knots for the test boat, in which the boat is economical when planing. The two tanks are then sufficient for a theoreticalRange of action of 174 nm plus 15 % reserve. At slow speed, you can cover around 380 to 230 nm, and at full throttle, the CC manages 125 nm plus reserves. These are good values.

With ever tighter bendsdepending on the engine trim, the propellers will sooner or later reach into the void. So you either have to ease off the throttle or trim in completely and, when steering out of the tightest section of the bend, wait until both propellers engage again. The turn diameters should be adapted to the speed - but as you don't notice them at all, you should definitely take a look at the screen beforehand. Up to around 32 knots, the test boat can be driven in all directions without any problems and follows all manoeuvres without complaint; there is no danger for the occupants.

If you are travelling faster, you are noticeably subject to the laws of physics, i.e. the hull catches. This is due to the planing steps on all three hull segments, which reach down to the keel and try to hold the boat in place when cornering tightly and quickly.

As a result, we remain at more than 32 knots in theExtreme manoeuvres and do not change direction abruptly. At high speeds, the CC should therefore bewith sensitive fingers and full concentration direct. She is a family boat with the genes of a cruising machine! After all, the ratio of 7 kg net boat weight per hp is also found inRacing boats.

But the steps also have their advantages. They allow the boat to rise out of the water with increasing speed and allow you to leave the throttle on in waves where you would have to pull back on the throttle lever with a conventional, deep-V hull. In other words:Great rough water behaviour.

The driving position and the three seats are pleasing. The skipper sits in the centre and has an undisturbed view and control of everything. TheArmrests give the feeling of bucket seats. Only the seat cushions, some of which are foldable, could be a little longer. AWindscreen wiper ensures good visibility even in the rain.

The twoV8 outboard engine are neatly bolted to the rear. All supply and control lines run in neatly installed conduits. The two tanks are located under the large cockpit floor hatch and are separated from the storage space there. Both tanks can be accessed through flapsFuel pre-filter, stopcocks and batteries. The on-board current and that for the motors is switched via relays in the cab, where the fuses are also located.

In addition to electric pumps, a manually operated pump also operates in an emergency. Water in the cockpit flows outboard. Except for theTailgate too low the internal cockpit dimensions are correct. The fact that the Swimming ladder at the stern pulled out from under a cover in the port platform This makes handling in the water difficult, but a handhold is provided. The side decks are asymmetrically designed, the one on the port side is wider. The railing, handles and handrails provide a good grip. Provided that you keep an eye on the speed display before manoeuvring, we can also describe the sailing characteristics as safe.

Below deck, the CC 10.5 WA is a pleasure to sail in all respects.Absolutely suitable for familieswhich is not usually the case on boats of this type. Almost everything fits for short or long trips, and there is no lack of storage space in the living area either. There are no problems on deck either. The folding bench seat in the port side wall of the cockpit costs extra, but is practical. In addition, you have to buy a few things that increase comfort and safety. For example, the German-approvedNavigation lights as well as canopy and tarpaulin or depth sounder among the extras; this leads to a devaluation. And the fact that the scuff plate is more for decoration than protection is due to the design.

Conclusion
You only discover the true strengths of the CC 10.5 WA when you see the space below deck or put the throttle on the table. Few boats combine so wellSuitable for families and sporty demands. But beware: this is a driving machine that needs to be steered with practised fingers and full attention in the upper speed range!
