Öchsner-Boote from Kürnach presents its latest model: The cabin cruiser offers ingenious details and plenty of space - thanks to "Wide-Beam"

Anyone visiting the Öchsner-Boote company in Kürnach quickly realises that it isa family-run company is the company. These include senior Dieter Öchsner and his wife Rosi, son and current managing director Florian, daughter Carina and, of course, the sales and office team.

The Bavarian manufactory works with theDrago shipyard in Greece with whose owners a close friendship has developed over the years. The good co-operation is also reflected in Öchsner's product range, as Drago-Werke has not only been manufacturing its own products for a few years now,but also the "Wide-Beam" hulls designed by Dieter Öchsner. These are then sent back to Kürnach and completed to the final boat in the company's own workshop.

Our test boat is in the middle segment of the wide beam range. In addition to the hull shape, the easy trailerability of the boats is also an important issue.

For this reason, the SR 25 Yachtline has been designed with the following in mindwith a 2500 kg trailer can be towed by luxury cars, SUVs, off-road vehicles and vans. So that you don't have to search for a long time, the boat dealer also offers the matching trailer from its own production. Junior boss Florian Öchsner explains to us how to slip the trailer correctly and easily at the ramp near the Main ferry in Fahr.

Driving and manoeuvring

In the water, the boat makes tight turning circles and shows direct manoeuvring behaviour when reversing. In combination with the bow thruster, the SR 25 can be manoeuvred safely and precisely. At slow speeds, the test boat yaws like a glider. In this case, the motto is: let it oscillate and only correct it a little from time to time.

How do you like this article?

If you push the throttle lever further forwards, the nose rises from around 2000 rpm and slowly lowers again around 3000 rpm. During this acceleration phase, the bow moves moderately into the field of vision for about two seconds. The Yachtline with Volvo Pentas 240 hp V6 achieves good planing speed at around 3500 rpm, which also characterises the most economical planing speed.

With a full tank of petrol, there are theoretically still sufficient 139 nm plus reserve. If you then push the lever forwards quickly, you can still feel a decent boost from the acceleration-happy V6.

The top speed is a good 37 knots, which is quite a sporty value for this type of cruiser. The best thing is that the driver doesn't have to worry about the trim, as the boat is equipped with the so-called Activ trim, which always brings the hull into a good position with the help of the power trim.

If you want to make a fast and very tight turn, you will be better off with a drive trimmed completely to the transom, as the twin propellers tend to snap when trimmed high. On slalom courses, the fuselage always swings controllably over the longitudinal axis and the fuselage noticeably sets in when the control system is torn.

Waves generated by inland waterway vessels were also able tonot impress. To ensure that the driver always has everything under control and under control, the shipyard installed a sports seat from which he can easily reach the height-adjustable sports steering wheel and the single-lever gearstick.

The Volvo Penta glass cockpit can also be read from there without restriction. However, like the trim assistant, fuel pre-filter, duoprop and electric anchor winch, it is part of the "Easy To-Do" technology package, which costs just under 9,000 euros extra.

As a further package, the shipyard offers the"Luxury & Sun Package" (5820 €), including the high-quality music system, sunbed cushions forward, roof-light system (sunroof lighting), waste water pump for emptying the holding tank, automatic toilet pump and the side panels for the multifunctional roof.

The latter can be adjusted lengthways to provide shade where you need it. The rear bench, which can be adjusted in several stages, and the bathing platform, whose ladder can also be used as a water seat or short gangway, offer the same variability.

The shipyard has provided a plug-in table that can be used in the rear area or as an extension to the galley unit. This is created by removing the driver's seat cushion and folding the backrest forwards.

The cooking area is equipped with a small sink, free-standing single-burner hob and refrigerator in the side wall (driver's footwell). Below deck there is a double berth and a small centre berth. The cushions have good firmness, but are not ventilated. There is a wet room for personal hygiene, which is fully equipped but does not offer standing height.

The workmanship, installations and safety equipment are of a consistently high standard.

CONCLUSION

The SR 25 Yachtline is a sports cruiser with room for two people and a child. With its variable bathing platform, seat unit and sun canopy, it is also well suited for bathing trips and sunbathers. The boat is well made and offers appealing driving and manoeuvring characteristics.
