Aluminium hull is the trump card: XO Yachts has developed into one of the leading shipyards in aluminium boat building in recent years. Their boats are not only made of specialMarine aluminiumbut partly made of GRP.
Driver and front passenger seats have firm upholstery and offer good lateral support
The latter ensures a more pleasantLife on boardThe female crew members in particular find the aluminium look too cool and distant, even if the metal is painted. The interior of our test boat, the XO 250, is made of synthetic material and the deck coverings ofEsthec Teak.
To theMirror of the XO outboards up to a maximum of 300 hp. The importer equipped our test boat with exactly this power. An Evinrude of thelatest generation (Evinrude Etec G2 300) gets the hull moving. The two-stroke engine accelerates the boat from a standstill to planing speed in around four seconds and up to its top speed of 45 knots in a further 14 seconds.
The XO 250 is agile on the move with Evinrude's 300 hp outboard engine
Anyone who wants to use the automatic system from Mente Marine (automatically controls the trim tabs), the bow is only visible for a brief moment. If you switch off the automatic system, the driver has a slightly longer view of the bow - but stillAcceptable- in the field of vision.
When travelling at speed, the standard trim tabs are not required, but the XO 250 is brought into the optimum position with the power trim (maximum 30 %).
ForFast driving manoeuvres it makes no difference whether you ride with or without power trim, the XO pulls its laps cleanly without a hitch. The fact that there is a lot of lateral force is due to theNature of the matterbecause the centrifugal forces push the driver and crew noticeably onto the outside of the bend.
Passengers are supported at the front by the railing and at the rear by the handrail next to the windscreen frame. The hull reacts directly to the steering inputs on somersaults, but this does not mean that the XO 250 is unsafe. When the rudder is twisted, the stern is soft and the special E-Tec steering system also shows its best side.
This is what the attributes "easy to manoeuvre and precise" stand for. On the test day, our test area, Lake Constance, showed its calm side, but we still found a "launching pad" with the stern wave of our photo boat. The fast approach to the steep wave and the gas shock when travelling over it caused the hull to take off with a good jump.
The bestAnd finally: the torso is absolutely stable and easy on the back. This is thanks to the deep V-shaped hull and the seat, which has a spring system that turns the sports seat into a comfort zone. The passenger also finds the same type of seat on his side.
Whoever wants toA lot of distance with little fuel If you want to cover a long distance, you can rev the engine to 3500 rpm (26.4 knots) and then cover almost 170 nm on one tank of fuel, which is more than enough for our range standard. The noise level is still within limits at 81 dB/A, at full throttle it is around 86 dB/A. However, the two-stroke engine sounds quitepithy which, however, does not bother speed enthusiasts at all, but rather spurs them on.
On slow courses, there is little need to make corrections to the steering wheel, as the XO drives very straight ahead, which means that weight shifts by one person only have a minor effect. Tight turning circles and direct turning when reversing guarantee precise harbour manoeuvres.
The Technical equipment consists of an additional fuel filter, well-mounted batteries with main switch and automatic control unit. The safety equipment includes an exemplary fire extinguisher, hand bilge pump and electric bilge pump.
You pay just as much extra for the navigation instruments as you do for the harbour and driving canopy. Apart from a few details, such as the passenger grab handle, which has already been shaken loose, the workmanship of the XO 250 makes just as good an impression as the installations.
Conclusion:
The XO 250 is a super runaboat that is not only fun to ride, but also safe in all riding situations. The workmanship and installations leave a good impression.
