Tuesday morning (10/09/2024) was the day. Wellcraft announced the market launch of its new centre console model, the Wellcraft 38 T-Top. Construction number one was presented to the international trade press at the Cannes Yachting Festival in September 2024.

The renowned American boat brand Wellcraft has been setting new standards for almost 70 years. Originally from Florida and made famous by the series "Miami Vice", Wellcraft offers legendary, hand-built boats.

The Wellcraft 38 T-Top offers plenty of space for people and sports equipment

With a length of 11.85 metres, the new Wellcraft 38 T-Top offers above all generous social areas and space for family and friends. According to the manufacturer, the new 38 is characterised above all by its good entertainment features. The bathing platform allows easy access to the water, while the boat has plenty of seating capacity in the bow and stern. Two high-quality and fully equipped galley modules are fitted with a barbecue and spacious fridges. Flexible, removable table configurations offer additional comfort and functionality.

Equipped with a water ski hook on the T-top and generous storage space, the Wellcraft 38 T-top is also ideal for water sports enthusiasts. In addition, the boat offers special storage spaces for fishing equipment as well as rod holders and livewells to fulfil the needs of passionate anglers. The model also has a fully equipped cabin with double bed, large separate toilet area and shower. Indirect lighting and a powerful sound system from JL Audio are also on board. The standard joystick improves manoeuvrability and enables easy handling in all conditions. Innovative special equipment such as the gyro stabilisation system powered by lithium batteries ensures greater stability without exhaust fumes.

Design by Michael Peters

The hull design was created by Michael Peters and is intended to ensure outstanding seaworthiness at high speeds. Peters also designed the Bertram 35 and several hulls for the RIB manufacturer Zodiac. The designer should therefore be familiar with sporty hulls.

Whether the boat is really as versatile as it promises remains to be seen in a detailed test. This will take place as soon as we are able to drive the boat.

Ole Puls was born in Schleswig in 1999. He quickly swapped the football pitch for the Schlei and grew up sailing a wide variety of dinghies and tall ships. From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
