The Yamaha SuperJet Cup racing series is entering its third season in 2025 and will once again be held as part of the German Jet Ski Championship. The event series is aimed at beginners and experienced riders alike. The races take place over three weekends - in the Netherlands and twice in the greater Leipzig area.

Only Yamaha SuperJet models in the GP4 class (from model year 2023) with a 4-stroke engine that are subject to technical regulations are permitted. Equal opportunities should be a top priority here: Modifications to the vehicle are not permitted, which reduces the competition to riding skills with a SuperJet.

Each event features three races lasting between 8 and 15 minutes, with all participants starting at the same time. The best three riders of each weekend receive prize money of between 100 and 300 euros. There is a special incentive for newcomers: the best rookie of the season wins a snowmobile experience in Sweden in the winter of 2025/26. Riders without previous jet ski racing experience as part of the DM are eligible to take part.

SuperJet Cup 2025: Conditions of participation and training

Participation is possible from the age of 16. A sports boat licence or a DMYV racing licence is not required. Licence training is mandatory for newcomers, consisting of an online theory section (26 March 2025) and a practical session in the spring. Here, the Cup participant must prove that they have the riding skills to take part in races for the Yamaha SuperJet Cup. Those who have already gained racing experience in the Yamaha SuperJet Cup or the German Championship are exempt from this requirement.

Packages and support

Participants do not have to buy a new jet - participation is free of charge as long as they have a compliant Yamaha SuperJet. Yamaha offers three graduated equipment packages for newcomers, including a complete package including vehicle and safety equipment.

Ole Puls was born in Schleswig in 1999. He quickly swapped the football pitch for the Schlei and grew up sailing a wide variety of dinghies and tall ships. From his grandfather's self-built wooden opti and a Europe to a 49er and an X362 Sport, there was a lot to choose from. After leaving school, Puls decided to train as a boat builder at the high-tech shipyard Knierim Yachtbau in Kiel in 2016. He successfully completed his training in 2020 and stayed at the shipyard as a bachelor. In 2022, he decided not only to build boats, but also to test them. Since then, he has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag in the Test & Technology section of BOOTE magazine. The training he received and the eye for detail and quality of workmanship he acquired help him immensely today. Even though he is a regatta sailor with heart and soul, he feels right at home on motorboats and enjoys separating his professional and private lives and yet combining them. Because we all know one thing: there is simply no better place to be than on the water.
