The Turkish shipyard has launched the 76 metre long "N2H" in Istanbul. The vessel, known as the NB75 Project Arrow, marks the first hybrid drive from the Turkish shipyard. The yacht combines two MTU 12V4000 M65L diesel engines with a 1.5 megawatt lithium battery. In pure electric mode, the N2H reaches ten knots and can operate emission-free for longer periods of time. The maximum speed is 17 knots.
Turquoise Yachts is responsible for the architecture, while Team For Design under Enrico Gobbi designed the exterior and H2 Yacht Design developed the interior. The launch follows just three months after that of the 87 metre long Project Vento. "Launching two 80-metre platform yachts in three months is no small feat," says Burak Akgül, CEO of Turquoise Yachts. "N2H" illustrates the shipyard's capabilities in design, engineering and production.
The exterior by Team For Design features clear, dynamic lines and a balanced profile. A striking feature is the sculptural arch on the sun deck, which integrates a large glass surface. Long, narrow glazing in the superstructure visually stretches the yacht. "The study of lines and shapes, proportions and ergonomics resulted in a design that maintains a slim volume across three decks plus the sun deck," explains Enrico Gobbi.
Style and dynamism were combined in this project, leaving nothing to chance. Even the two-colour blue and white exterior paintwork was designed to create a streamlined profile. On board, the interiors benefit from generous deck heights of between 2.5 and 2.65 metres on the main deck. Floor-to-ceiling windows and sliding doors connect the interior and exterior areas.
"N2H was born out of a brief to create a floating villa with modern Italian finesse and a relaxed residential atmosphere," says Jonny Horsfield, founder of H2 Yacht Design. The interior combines contemporary furniture with a soft, neutral colour palette. Leather and bronze details add warmth, while ribbed wooden walls and ceilings add texture.
Retractable sliding doors and folding bulwarks open up the interior to the sea. The main deck saloon is divided into a lounge and cinema area, separated by a floating fireplace. Sliding doors lead to the aft deck, while internal stairs lead down to a spacious beach club, which serves as a spa with gym, hammam, sauna and folding terraces on both sides.
The owner's suite on the forward main deck has a bedroom to port and an office to starboard, separated by a central dressing area. Both rooms have their own bathrooms and large sliding doors to private terraces. Four spacious guest cabins are located on the lower deck. The upper deck offers a further lounge and cinema area, which flows into a circular dining area with curved glass doors.
There is a built-in sofa for the crew in front of the wheelhouse. On the foredeck, a touch-and-go helipad doubles as an outdoor cinema. The sun deck is divided into two zones: Forward is a dining and lounge area with retractable glass windscreen and integrated TV, aft is a lounge with sofas, sun loungers and pool.
"N2H" is the first to utilise MTU's integrated hybrid propulsion system. The combination of two MTU 12V4000 M65L diesel engines with a 1.5 megawatt lithium battery enables speeds of up to ten knots in battery mode as well as longer periods of emission-free operation. Two Danfoss T2000 electric motors with 473 kilowatts each operate as PTI/PTO units. Power is supplied by two Volvo Penta variable speed generators, each with 513 kilowatts of electrical power.
A futuristic wheelhouse with Kongsberg equipment supports navigation and watch operation. A SEA.AI Sentry system as collision protection increases safety. Naiad AtRest stabilisers ensure comfort. "From the outset, this has been a very involved process with a strong focus on quality, innovation and detail at every stage," comments owner's representative Maciek Baran.
