Tecnomarine is returning to the place where the shipyard built aluminium yachts for decades. It was founded in Viareggio in 1972 by Moreno Maestrelli and the Picchiotti family of boatbuilders, with the support of designer Paolo Caliari. Over 300 boats were launched, including the C-42, the Cobra series and the 36-metre-long T-118.
The site on the Navicelli Canal in Pisa is now being reactivated under the management of Massimiliano Zilioli. Zilioli has acquired the trademark rights and is focusing on large formats. The production facility comprises 3,500 square metres of covered space and a 3,000-square-metre outdoor area. Shipyard Report: Viareggio and Pisa
The shipyard uses aluminium exclusively for displacement and semi-displacement yachts between 25 and 50 metres. Tecnomarine justifies this choice of material on the basis of its requirements for strength, sustainability and design flexibility. The yachts are designed to be seaworthy and to be largely adaptable to customers’ requirements.
“The relaunch of Tecnomarine Yachts is an industrial challenge built on solid foundations: the shipyard’s heritage and the excellence of ‘Made in Italy’,” explains Massimiliano Zilioli.
The current range comprises five models: the TM33, TM40, TM41, TM45 and TM90. The relaunch focuses on two projects developed in collaboration with Michele Dragoni’s studio, Dragoni Designlab. The 33-metre-long Tecnomarine TM33 reinterprets the concept of the fast aluminium cruiser. Dragoni Designlab worked on clean exterior lines, a sporty profile, large outdoor terraces and a comfortable layout.
The 40-metre-long Tecnomarine TM40 is designed to excel particularly on long-haul voyages. The layout blends the interior and exterior spaces and features extensive transom glazing. The stern area is designed as an open terrace overlooking the sea.
Tecnomarine’s relaunch programme and its full range of models will be unveiled at the Monaco Yacht Show. There will be a particular focus on the development of the TM33 and TM40. The presentation is aimed at industry professionals, brokers and the international yachting press.
