Gill Schmid Design has taken the many customer requests for an environmentally friendly, sustainable yacht with a modern layout to heart and is presenting the 83-metre "Bloom" project as a result.

In terms of sustainability, an e-hybrid drive is the answer, while a "Free From Bulkheads (FFB) platform" by Lateral Naval Architects allows the rooms and themed areas to be arranged freely on the inside. The New York duo Veronika Schmid and Alistair Gill designed an open space on two floors, through which all guests can stroll unhindered, much like in a beach resort with direct access to the pools or the sea.

Four of the six guest suites are also located at sea level, bringing the water close enough to touch. Of course, this also applies to the beach club and pool, but also to the open-plan gym and spa lounge. Water also appears in another form, with a huge aquarium marking the entrance to the guest rooms. The owners can retreat from all the wet hustle and bustle to their private deck, where they can enjoy their own jacuzzi plus outdoor cinema and fire pit. The "Bloom" concept is likely to appeal to younger owners in particular, for whom there is of course a juice and sushi bar on board in addition to all the flexibly usable spaces, as well as a larger galley on each deck for preparing meals together.

Uske was born just outside Volkswagen in 1970 and tested various small boats with sails through her boyfriend (now husband 😊) on a quarry pond. Her studies in Kiel took her to the Baltic Sea with boats of all kinds and eventually to a regatta from Hong Kong to Mauritius via the Academic Sailing Club. Her teacher training ended at the Burda School of Journalism in Munich instead of in the classroom and finally at Boote Exclusiv. After a long break and various stories about house building, she returned to Delius Klasing and has been filling the magazine with long stories about large ships ever since. A family-owned H-boat was quickly sold again as the mother realized that sailing with two small children was neither relaxing nor fun.
