With "Boardwalk", Lürssen launched 117 metres in classic style. Final outfitting will take place at the pier in Lemwerder before the owner can enjoy two helipads, a putting green and plenty of promenade deck metres in 2026.
One day before St Nicholas, Lürssen put water under the keel of the 117 metre long "Boardwalk". Beforehand, the yacht builders pushed the steel and aluminium colossus out of the hall at the Lemwerder site and onto slipway trolleys to the slipway with a capacity of 3,500 tonnes. After mooring at the pier, a mobile crane hoisted the mast onto the top deck and completed the "traditional, classic" lines of Frank Woll from Seattle. The crack is dominated by diagonal aft columns, the dynamics of which are picked up and exaggerated by the concave clipper stem. The expansive decks match the yacht's name "Boardwalk", which stands for promenade.
According to Lürssen, the experienced owner was heavily involved in the entire design process and contributed to all aspects, from the layout and walkways to the exterior and interior design. Amy Halffman was on hand to help develop the "Boardwalk" interior. The 117 metre long solitaire was designed as a retreat for a family with numerous entertainment areas.
For sporting activities, there is a spacious fitness room, putting green and various cooling and relaxation facilities. A whirlpool is located on the forward upper deck, while two separate small pools join the pools on the aft and sun decks. The guest cabins on the main decks appear to have balconies instead of the promenade deck.
Helicopters touch down on either the sun deck or foredeck, with synthetic teak under the skids and an inlay in the form of a compass rose above the tail rotor. Aircraft with a D-value of 14 metres may remain there. The value describes the maximum overall length based on the distance from the tip of the main rotor blade to the tip of the tail rotor.
Both the striking parallels in the design and the yacht name in a curved font suggest a successor to the 77-metre "Boardwalk", which came from Feadship in 2021 and is for sale for 165 million euros. The old ship caused a stir in the summer because Tilman Fertitta, the new US ambassador to Italy, preferred to live on board at the gates of Rome. To avoid traffic jams on the roads, he flew to appointments in the city by helicopter (Airbus H130).
The Airbus H130 was located exclusively aft on the sundeck of the 77-metre Feadship. Interesting in this context: The brokers at Y.CO point out that the helicopter can be purchased as part of a separate deal. It is therefore quite possible that the 117 metre long "Boardwalk" will also receive a new aircraft. In terms of capacity, the owner family could touch down in 2026 with a helicopter the size of an ACH 145. By then, Lürssen will have completed the final refit at the shipyard pier in Lemwerder.
