The MED Group expands into the luxury market. Aluminium tenders with speeds of up to 55 knots and exclusive designs by Tommaso Spadolini are created under the TYKUN brand. The first 10.5-long chase boat makes its debut at the Monaco Yacht Show 2025.

The Italian MED Group is primarily known for its boats for the authorities and armed forces. Now it is expanding its portfolio and entering the luxury yacht sector. With the newly founded TYKUN brand, the company from Cervia is presenting three high-performance chase boats that combine military expertise with superyacht elegance.

The tenders are designed by superyacht designer Tommaso Spadolini and come in sizes of 8.5, 10.5 and 12.5 metres. They reach speeds of over 55 knots. The TYKUN 10 is already under construction and will make its debut at the 2025 Monaco Yacht Show, while the first TYKUN 12 has been ordered and is expected to be launched in 2026.

Military DNA meets luxury design

Every TYKUN chase boat is based on an aluminium construction, which offers decisive advantages over the usual GRP. The lightweight and very durable material is easy to adapt as no moulds are required. This allows for customised designs and simplifies structural modifications at any stage - during construction or later in the boat's life cycle. Customers choose the layout, colours and finishes according to their wishes.

Designer Tommaso Spadolini: "We know that owners will appreciate the flexibility of the design and layout. It means they can create their perfect leisure boat that is comfortable and easy to handle."

Chase boat with defence technology

The performance of the TYKUN models is based on the expertise of MED DEFENSE. This is the division of the group that supplies RIBs to authorities and the police. With a solid foundation in ergonomic, fully certified vehicles - including NATO-qualified and EC-approved PRO RIBs - MED DEFENSE brings technical innovation and reliability to the world of luxury chase boats.

Marco Galimberti, CEO of MED Group: "With our experience in manufacturing boats for the defence sector, we are very excited to present TYKUN to the market. These boats have been built with the quality of a superyacht to the very demanding standards of military craft. They combine their power and robustness with the elegance and comfort of a superyacht tender."

Big plans at TYKUN

The strategic advisor for TYKUN, Benedetta Iovane, is also known as "The Luxury Yacht Lady". She sees great potential for chase boats: "We believe that our boats will be a welcome addition to the market. There is nothing like it out there. Few chase boats combine lightweight aluminium construction with defence-class performance and bespoke superyacht details in such a compelling way."

The MED Group currently employs 60 people at its shipyard in Cervia and is preparing for substantial growth. The company is planning to move to a larger facility and further expand its workforce in 2026. With the debut of the first 10.5-metre model at the Monaco Yacht Show 2025 (24-27 September) and the order for the first 12.5-metre model, TYKUN is positioning itself as a promising new player in the luxury boat segment.
