Columbus Yachts has delivered the "Principessa Capricciosa". The 38 metre long yacht is the most compact model in the Atlantique line and the fourth ship in the series to be delivered. Hot Lab is responsible for the design and interior, while the shipyard itself is responsible for the construction.

Party mood at Columbus Yachts, a member of the Palumbo family. The "Principessa Capricciosa" follows two Atlantique 43 ("Frette" and "Night Fury") and the Atlantique 47 "Acqua Chiara". Milan-based studio Hot Lab developed the exterior lines and the interior, while the shipyard took care of the ship's engineering. Assia and Salvatore Mele from Mele Yacht acted as agents for the client.

Design concept and exterior lines of the Columbus

The lines of the "Principessa" from Columbus Yachts are clear and elegant with sporty accents reminiscent of Italian GT vehicles. The hull silhouette is reminiscent of classic sailing yachts.

The recessed stern area is only 50 centimetres above the surface of the water. This design allows direct access to the sea and reinforces the connection to the maritime environment.

Construction and drive

The hull and superstructure are made entirely of aluminium. At 299 gross tonnes, the yacht remains just under the 300 GT threshold. This size range allows for various customisation options and also enables efficient crew and operating costs.

The semi-planing hull is powered by two MAN engines with 2,000 hp each. The maximum speed is 22 knots and the cruising speed is 19 knots.

Space concept and cabins of the Columbus

The yacht can accommodate up to twelve guests in five cabins. Four double cabins with en-suite bathrooms are located on the lower deck. The owner's suite is located forward on the main deck and has two bathrooms with a central shower, a walk-in wardrobe and a private terrace.

Uske was born just outside Volkswagen in 1970 and tested various small boats with sails through her boyfriend (now husband 😊) on a quarry pond. Her studies in Kiel took her to the Baltic Sea with boats of all kinds and eventually to a regatta from Hong Kong to Mauritius via the Academic Sailing Club. Her teacher training ended at the Burda School of Journalism in Munich instead of in the classroom and finally at Boote Exclusiv. After a long break and various stories about house building, she returned to Delius Klasing and has been filling the magazine with long stories about large ships ever since. A family-owned H-boat was quickly sold again as the mother realized that sailing with two small children was neither relaxing nor fun.
