The British tender builder Compass Tenders developed a guest shuttle with cabin for the Amels yacht "Pangea". The 11.65 metre long boat was custom-built according to the owner's wishes. The main requirement: a cabin with full headroom for eight people, a private bathroom and a design that matches the design language of the mother ship. The "Pangea", designed by Espen Øino, was launched in 2025 and measures 80 metres in length. Compass based its design closely on the profile line of the five-storey yacht. The curved side windows of the tender trace the characteristic lines. It took 15 months from the idea to completion.
Compass worked with Dutch studio Sinot Architecture & Design on the interior design. The cabin was fitted with walnut wall panelling and leather seats. Indirect lighting provides subtle light. The equipment includes a small pantry (galley) and an audio-video system. Entry is via electrically operated doors. A sliding roof can be opened and brings daylight and fresh air into the interior. The port side (left side) has the entrance door for guests. Its height matches the boarding platform of the 80-metre Amels, making it easier to board and disembark. The captain reaches the cockpit through a separate door on the starboard side (right-hand side).
Two Yanmar diesel engines, each with 272 kilowatts (370 hp), power the tender. The maximum speed is 42 knots, which corresponds to around 78 kilometres per hour. A gyro stabiliser counteracts rolling and pitching movements and, according to the manufacturer, should ensure smoother running. The boat displaces 6.25 tonnes of water and draws 0.65 metres. The fuel tank holds 600 litres of diesel. According to the manufacturer, this gives the 11.65 saloon a range of 200 nautical miles, which corresponds to around 370 kilometres. The licence allows a maximum of 16 passengers plus two crew members on board.
