The nine-part mini-series centres on the real-life story of con artist Anna Delvey, who was born Anna Sorokin in Russia and came to Eschweiler at the age of 16. Working for the magazine "Purple" brought her to New York via Paris in 2013. Here, Delvey, who is interested in fashion and art, came up with the plan to open a mixture of gallery and members' club similar to Soho House. She presents herself as an heiress and seeks to be close to solvent people, one of whom Anna and her boyfriend meet off Ibiza on "Leight Star". After disembarking with the owner, they return to the 44-metre charter vessel without further ado and pretend to the crew that the extra week had been arranged. In the end, "Anna" was sentenced to 20 months in prison and restitution as well as a fine for obtaining loans by forging notarisations.
The crime drama from Amazon MGM Studios aims to reinterpret film noir, which of course can't be done without a private detective. In "Killer Heat", Nick Bali, played by Joseph Gordon-Levitt, is hired by Penelope Vardakis (Shailene Woodley): Her husband's twin brother has died while climbing in Crete. "Geco" (issue 6/21) mimes the Vardakis family yacht, which Nick Bali is also drawn to. During a charity event, the sleuth is thrown off the boat and must have had a good view of the lines. Admiral's 55-metre-long aluminium construction stands out thanks to the strikingly overflowing helipad on the foredeck and the metallic blue colour scheme. Shipyard designer Gian Marco Campanino conceived "Geco" as a charter yacht without folding balconies, but with a beach at the stern. The brokerage house IYC arranges holidays from 335,000 euros per week.
The Netflix series is based on true events surrounding Griselda Blanco. The Colombian woman played by Sofía Vergara is at the head of a drug cartel. And in order to stay there, "La Jefa" organises festivities on "Northwind". This takes place in 1970s Miami, but was filmed in Los Angeles. This is where parts of the eventful story of the 38-metre classic take place, which is not unlike that of "Christina O" and begins in 1930 at the Manitowoc Shipbuilding Company in Wisconsin. During the turmoil of the Second World War, the yacht ended up in the hands of the British government, which meant that Winston Churchill was also on deck. Thanks to the Greek Nomikos shipping family, Jackie Kennedy and Aristotle Onassis became close on board. Filmmaker Tom Jones saved her from being scrapped and earned her the "Griselda" gig.
