Cantiere delle Marche let loose with "Nasiba" the third unit from the Flexplorer 146 series was launched. Like its sister ship "Maverick", the steel-aluminium explorer was built in Ancona for a family with plans to travel the world.

Moss green instead of military grey. The sisters differ immensely in terms of colour, but they are very similar in terms of design and intended use. With "Nasiba", Cantiere delle Marche (CdM) launched the third unit from the Flexplorer 146 series in Ancona. The literal sister ship of "Maverick" also has four decks instead of the three of build number two, and the 44.3 metre long Explorer is designed to meet the needs of a young family who, like the owners of "Maverick", would like to travel the world.

Family life on board

According to the shipyard from Ancona, Italy, family life was at the centre of the design. CdM and the Hydro Tec team developed a layout that allows for both privacy and shared activities and includes a learning and play area for the children - a rarity in this size segment. Four Pullman beds allow flexible occupancy of the six guest cabins. The interiors were designed by London-based studio Winch Design, which opted for natural materials, earthy colours and matt, organic surfaces. The environment should be calm, tactile and inspired by nature.

Sustainable Material Manager for interiors

Natural, low-emission or environmentally friendly materials were used. The owners also wanted to minimise exposure to electromagnetic fields (EMF) and volatile organic compounds (VOC). The sustainable and health-friendly interior world was ensured by a specially appointed Sustainable Material Manager, who monitored the origin and properties of all materials used in the interiors. The infrared sauna and the plunge pool for ice baths could hardly be more worthy of his scrutiny.

Typical Explorer equipment

An A-frame crane is integrated into the long aft deck of the "Nasiba", which is typical of an Explorer and can be raised to form a bracket, allowing large tenders to be deployed even in rough seas. Two pairs of electric stabilisers are designed to ensure maximum comfort by limiting rolling movements even when stationary. A 75 kW bow thruster facilitates manoeuvring in the harbour.

The 480 tonne displacement steel-aluminium format is powered by two Caterpillar engines, each with an output of 746 kW (1,014 hp). This enables a top speed of 14 knots and a remarkable range of 5,500 nautical miles at 10 knots with a full 65,000 litre diesel tank. In order to be able to sail in ecologically sensitive areas, Canteire delle Marche installed an IMO Tier III-compliant SCR catalytic converter to reduce nitrogen oxide emissions by up to 93 per cent.

Full halls in Ancona

Cantiere delle Marche has a lot to do. Two Flexplorer 165s are under construction in Ancona, which will replace the CdM flagship, also recently launched, in two years' time. RJ 155 will replace them.
