Only one week to go until the German Superyacht Conference! The German Superyacht Conference organised by BOOTE EXCLUSIV will bring together the who's who of the superyacht industry for the 15th time on 26 February 2026 in the Elbkuppel of the Hotel Hafen Hamburg.

The world of superyachts will meet again in Hamburg on 26 February. As in previous years, the venue will be the Elbkuppel at the Hotel Hafen Hamburg, which offers the perfect setting for the event with its maritime ambience and view of the Lürssen docks. "The Elbkuppel is the perfect place for us to hold a conference for 150 participants," says BOOTE EXCLUSIV editor-in-chief Martin Hager. "In addition to the appropriate maritime ambience, the location also offers an ideal setting for the intensive networking for which the event is known and loved."

High-calibre speakers from the yacht industry and beyond

Thematic diversity is the key to the success of the conference, which traditionally takes place on the last Thursday in February. In recent years, numerous influential personalities have shared their knowledge and provided in-depth insights into their working methods and companies. Previous speakers have included managing directors and owners of major shipyards and brokerage houses such as Alberto Galassi, Luca Bassani and Jonathan Beckett, as well as respected designers from the industry, including Martin Francis, Carlo Nuvolari, Ken Freivokh, Bill Tripp, Bannenberg & Rowell and Jarrko Jämsen.

She is an international luxury strategist and founder of CODE \ LUXE, a boutique consultancy and trend studio for luxury with its own academy. Her topic is: "Luxury trends and what they mean for the yachting industry."

Practical innovations and technical insights

Sascha Meinhardt, Project Manager at Quantum Stabilisers, is another speaker who will be addressing a practical topic. He knows all about seasickness and will explain how rolling and pitching movements can have a negative impact on the yachting experience. His presentation will shed light on both the medical background to the discomfort caused by strong ship movements and the technology that can help owners and their families to overcome the fear of this great evil. It is stabilisers that enable many owners to use their yacht as a floating home.

For the first time, there will be a panel discussion at the German Superyacht Conference. Lawyers Dr Tim Schommer and Dr Volker Lücke from Clyde & Co will moderate the panel, in which the German government's coordinator for the maritime industry Christoph Ploß, maritime security policy expert Irina Haesler, Lürssen Managing Director Dr Justus Reinke and Oldenburg Interior CEO Benjamin Bäker will discuss the future of the German yacht industry and bureaucratic hurdles.

Innovative concepts and electrification

Michael Jost, the former Chief Strategist of the Volkswagen Group, sees electromobility as a building block of the future. He founded the start-up eD-TEC with the motto "Electrify the Ocean" and calls on politicians to broaden their horizons: beyond a pure technological change to a comprehensive transformation. Hermen de Jong, Innovation Manager at Royal Huisman, is another expert talking about forward-looking developments. The representative of the Dutch shipyard, which is one of the global market leaders for large sailing yachts, will provide insights into the technically complex development of mega yachts and outline the future of floating superlatives.

German yacht industry in focus

Theodoros Fotiadis, a yacht designer, will be speaking at the conference. The Berlin-based designer founded Astra Nord, a new superyacht shipyard based in Stralsund, last year. In his presentation, he will explain what makes Germany the perfect refit location. Tanno Weeda, Head Designer at Feadship Studio De Voogt, will also be among the speakers. The Dutch studio is one of the most creative addresses for the construction and design of extraordinary yachts. Weeda will shed light on the processes involved in conceptualisation and the integration of innovative technical solutions.

The German Superyacht Conference 2026 is supported by the sponsors: Pantaenius, Piano house Möller, Oldenburg Interior, H+B Technics, Panoblu and Nounwithout whom the event would not be possible.

Martin Hager

Editor in Chief YACHT

Martin Hager is editor-in-chief of the titles YACHT and BOOTE EXCLUSIV and has been working for Delius Klasing Verlag for 20 years. He was born in Heidelberg in 1978 and started sailing at the age of six, in an Opti of course. This was soon followed by 420s, Sprinta Sport and 470s, which he also sailed on the regatta course with his brother. His parents regularly took him on charter trips through the Greek and Balearic Islands. Even at a young age, it was clear to him that he wanted to turn his passion for water sports into a career. After graduating from high school and completing an internship at the Rathje boatbuilding company in Kiel, it was clear that he did not want to become a classic boatbuilder. Instead, he successfully studied shipbuilding and marine engineering in the Schleswig-Holstein state capital and focused on yacht design wherever he could. His diploma thesis dealt with the “Testing of a new speed prediction method for sailing yachts”. In 2004, the superyacht magazine BOOTE EXCLUSIV was looking for an editor with technical and nautical background knowledge, a position that was perfect for Martin Hager. The application was successful and a two-year traineeship was arranged. After twelve years as an editor, the editorial team changed and he took over responsibility for BOOTE EXCLUSIV as editor-in-chief in 2017. After long-time YACHT editor-in-chief Jochen Rieker moved to the role of publisher, Martin Hager also took over the position of editor-in-chief of Europe's largest sailing magazine YACHT, which is celebrating its 120th anniversary this year, at the beginning of 2023. When he's not working on topics for the two water sports titles, Martin Hager likes to go out on the water himself - preferably with kite and wingfoil equipment or on a little after-work trip across the Alster.
