The 42.6 metre motor yacht "Lady Dia" has run aground near the port of Bonifacio off Corsica. A video currently circulating on social media shows the rescue attempts.

The luxury yacht "Lady Dia" from the Italian shipyard Custom Line ran into difficulties off Corsica at the weekend. The 42.6 metre long ship ran aground near the port of Bonifacio. According to local media, "Lady Dia" is said to have lost control and crashed with its bow against a rock, where it ultimately ran aground - as can also be seen in the video.

Extent of damage from "Lady Dia" still unclear

The photo shows the crew trying to free the ship from its predicament. The stern was connected to a dinghy to pull the "Lady Dia" away from the rock. Meanwhile, another boat inspected the damage to the bow.

The damaged yacht is now said to be safely in harbour. The extent of the damage to the hull is not yet known. No injuries were reported in the incident. The exact circumstances that led to the accident are still unclear and need to be investigated.

"Lady Dia" was delivered by the Italian shipyard Custom Line in 2024.
