The Bremen shipyard stated that Terence Disdale designed the exterior as well as the interior and that a diesel-electric drive with two controllable pitch propellers and a pod was installed.

The owner dispensed with the big name fuss, in which a project designation is intended to distract from the actual name. Project "Blue" became simply "Blue". After successful second sea trials, Lürssen launched the 160 metres on her maiden voyage in the Mediterranean on the second of July and announced that Terence Disdale was fully responsible for the design. His opus magnum is strikingly reminiscent of "A+" (ex-"Topaz"). The 22.50 metre wide "Blue" has a draught of 5.50 metres and comes in at 15,320 gross tons, a good 600 gross tons less than "Dilbar", the largest Lürssen to date in terms of volume.

For the fifth largest yacht in the world, the shipyard's own engineering team developed a main propulsion system consisting of two diesel engines, each of which drives two controllable pitch propellers via a gearbox. Flexibility is provided by PTI/PTO units that are connected to the gearboxes and allow both all-electric low-speed cruising and a booster mode for higher top speeds. In addition, an azimuthing propeller nacelle operates under the stern.

Peter Lürßen said on the occasion of the delivery: "We are very proud of "Blue" as another example of Lürssen's ability to build yachts that fulfil all our owners' requirements. Whereby we concentrate on our core competences: competent technical planning, beautiful design and the development of sustainable technologies. We see ourselves as proud market leaders in the latter."
