EE Yacht Design: The 65-metre explorer is both a luxury yacht and a research vessel.
ER Yacht Design presents the Super-Expedition 65 m, an explorer with a modular system. The concept allows conversion between luxury yacht, research platform and support vessel. With 375 square metres of aft deck and space for tenders up to 15 metres.

The 65 metres from Ivan Erdevicki's ER Yacht Design studio can be converted using prefabricated modules that can be installed or removed depending on the application. The on-board crane lifts the units onto foundations, where they utilise connections for electricity and water. This transforms the ship from a luxury yacht into a research platform, a helicopter base or a base for long-distance expeditions.

The concept drawings show three variants: full module configuration, main deck configuration and the version without modules. The special feature is that the yacht retains its design line in all versions. The position of the modules has been optimised in relation to the centre of gravity to ensure buoyancy and stability. This makes the concept a true offshore platform. No Limits by Ivan Erdevicki.

Aft deck as XL work surface

The aft deck extends over around 375 square metres and thus offers capacities that are otherwise reserved for much larger support vessels. This area offers space for a 10 x 5 metre infinity pool, which can be converted into a helipad. Tenders up to 15 metres in length, detachable cabin modules, expedition vehicles, submarines or other equipment can be transported here.

The modular studies show optional arrangements for land-based and water-based expedition operations. Few yachts in this size class combine so much usable space with the flexibility of a luxury yacht. The deck also serves as a leisure area and as a work surface for operations in remote regions.

More cabins as required

Ten guests can be accommodated in four guest cabins and one VIP cabin. This basic configuration also functions as a fully-fledged expedition yacht without additional modules. The optional superstructures allow the capacity to be expanded as required, for example for scientific personnel, additional crew or expedition participants.

Uske was born just outside Volkswagen in 1970 and tested various small boats with sails through her boyfriend (now husband 😊) on a quarry pond. Her studies in Kiel took her to the Baltic Sea with boats of all kinds and eventually to a regatta from Hong Kong to Mauritius via the Academic Sailing Club. Her teacher training ended at the Burda School of Journalism in Munich instead of in the classroom and finally at Boote Exclusiv. After a long break and various stories about house building, she returned to Delius Klasing and has been filling the magazine with long stories about large ships ever since. A family-owned H-boat was quickly sold again as the mother realized that sailing with two small children was neither relaxing nor fun.
