Meeting of the luxury steamers: every year, the Monaco Grand Prix not only attracts motorsport fans from all over the world to the Principality, but also the super-rich with their luxury steamers. During the race weekend in particular, the harbour of Monaco is transformed into a meeting place for high society. The owners of the superyachts pay large sums of money to get a coveted berth directly on the race track. We reveal how high the prices are

From 24 to 26 May, the super-rich arrived in their super yachts for Formula 1. And those who treat themselves to a berth right next to the race track have to dig deeper into their pockets. It is no news that this special kind of excursion is extremely expensive. The course of the track means that yacht owners can position themselves right next to the race track and have a clear view of the action. In his latest video, superyacht expert "Esysman Superyachts" reveals how much a berth in the popular Port Hercule costs.

Price for a berth in Monaco

Even away from events such as the Monaco Yacht Show or Formula 1, the city is not cheap. But how is the price of a berth actually calculated? The costs for the central harbour are based on the total length of the yacht. We take the example of the expert "Esysman Superyachts": The following prices refer to yachts between 100 and 110 metres in length.

One day in the low season costs 1411.20 euros. In the high season, things look different again: Owners pay around 2876.40 euros per day for their superyacht. If you still want to "save", it is cheaper to book a complete month. In the low season, the price is 29,240.40 euros. In the high season, the price is 42,698.40 euros.

Triple costs during Formula 1

For those who want to moor their yacht alone near the race track in the world-famous harbour, this involves considerably higher costs. In his video, the superyacht expert shows the mega yacht "Faith". It is owned by Canadian billionaire Michael Latifi and was in the front row. With a length of 97 metres, his yacht is one of the larger models. But there was no more space available right next to the Formula 1 circuit.

"Faith" was moored for a week (20 to 27 May) in Zone 1, which is one berth further than the berths for smaller yachts, which can be moored directly on the shore. According to the price list, Latifi has to pay 129,990 euros for the period, including taxes. By comparison, that's almost three months in Port Hercule during the high season.

Three zones to create

According to "Esysman", there were three zones during the Grand Prix where owners could moor their yachts.

Zone 1: Superyachts moored close to the race track

  • Zone 1: Here, the boats are moored in close proximity to the race track. A berth for a yacht up to 150 metres costs around 153,000 euros. A 90-metre yacht costs 120,000 euros.
  • Zone 2: From here, owners cannot follow the racing action from the deck, as the jetties are located in the centre of the harbour. Here you pay around 100,000 euros.
  • side of the racetrack: If one of the Gigas is "track side" - i.e. directly on the race track - this is one of the most expensive berths. This is the section where the racing cars come out after the tunnel and drive along. A berth for a 90-metre yacht costs 146,295 euros.
