Bare mast: "Moonrise" (101 m) completely dispenses with XXL radomes. Instead, satellite receivers from Starlink were seamlessly integrated into the structure.

One owner had two almost identical yachts built by Feadship. One just under and the other just over 100 metres long. There are 5 years and 1.50 metres between the "Moonrise" sisters. The biggest change has to do with Starlink.

Radomes are as much a part of superyachts as pools, tenders or the always spruced-up appearance. VSAT and TVRO antennas rotate under the domes for permanent communication and streaming options. "Moonrise" takes a new approach for the 100-metre class. Docked by Feadship in Makkum, the 101 metres rely entirely on satellite receivers from Starlink, seamlessly integrated into the superstructure and therefore not far from the cinema on the bridge deck.

Starlink instead of VSAT antennas

dThe thin mast of the new "Moonrise" looks correspondingly discreet and bare. Designers like to place the tambours, which are crowned by domes, on specially sculpted wings that stand to one side of the masts. On the predecessor - 99.50 metres long, also on "Moonrise" baptised and obviously for the same owner - they are enthroned on oyster-shaped jetties. It is unusual for owners to extend themselves by 1.50 metres with a new build. The fact that they adopt the external design language almost one-to-one was previously considered absurd or even impossible in this size segment.

Same team, very similar look and feel

But the second "Moonrise" has the same design features: sleek, clear lines with long window strips, portholes and a vertical stern, all in grey and snow-white tones. Feadship calls it a "refined further development of its predecessor". The shipyard's own creative office, Studio De Voogt, which emerged from the design office of the same name and works out of Hoofddorp for the four shipyard locations spread across the Netherlands, was once again called upon. The interiors were once again designed by Frenchman Rémi Tessier. The sun deck with massage area, fitness room and hairdressing salon is more spacious, and both the outer decks and the bathing platform have been extended.

The "Moonrise" fleet is growing

The width seems to have remained the same. But even a completely new design would not be out of place and would be in keeping with Feadship's "full custom" philosophy. The Dutch company prides itself on starting from scratch for every project, including the hull, and not using pre-constructed platforms. The final outfitting work and sea trials on the North Sea are still pending for the "Moonrise", which is at least 100 metres long. It would appear that the owner wants to keep both "Moonrise". This is because the old, usually smaller yacht is usually offered for sale during the construction process. The "Moonrise", which measures just under 100 metres, did not appear on the brokerage market, at least not publicly.
