Turkish shipyard Alia Yachts has begun construction of a new 43-metre project with aggressive exterior lines, designed by long-time design partners Omega Architects.

The design of the 43-metre project, which is being built for a customer from Miami, is based on the relaxed open-air lifestyle that is part of everyday life in Florida and the Bahamas. Omega deliberately kept the profile low and slim. However, the bow should appear striking, which is supported by the raised pilothouse - which extends over two and a half decks.

As Frank Laupman from Omega Architects says, the model epitomises speed and robustness. "The idea came from the owner and the shipyard. With such a committed owner and such a motivated team, there is never a dull moment on the Alia."

The 43-metre yacht has spacious sunbathing areas on the aft deck, the foredeck and the sun deck. On the latter, the owners can look forward to a whirlpool.

The hull shape

The all-aluminium vessel has a shallow draft and a Fast Displacement Hull Form (FDHF) from Van Oossanen, another Dutch design partner of Alia. The FDHF hull outperforms conventional displacement and semi-displacement hull forms at low, cruising and maximum speeds, as it offers high efficiency across the entire performance curve.

"The characteristic features of this hull shape - such as the fine entry, the flat stern and the spray moulding in the bow - result in fuel-efficient driving, top performance and relatively low engine power," says studio manager Perry van Oossanen.

Layout of the 43 metre long Alia yacht

The interior comprises four guest suites on the lower deck and a master cabin with walk-in wardrobe on the main deck forward. The lower deck also has space for seven crew members and a very large fitness room. There will also be a side-loading tender garage. Sliding glass doors will be installed on both sides of the main saloon. The interior design comes from newcomers Yodezeen, a designer couple from Kiev with a studio in Miami.
