The Palm Beach 85 combines almost three decades of cool design and clever construction from Palm Beach Motor Yachts. At 26 metres, it will also be the flagship of the global brand.

The PB85 is the perfect entry into the world of superyachts. This is particularly pleasing for the founder of Palm Beach Motor Yachts, who combines the best of two worlds: Professional sailor Mark Richards, successful skipper ("Wild Oats XI") in various Sydney Hobart races and designer of fast motor yachts.

Since its foundation in 1995, the shipyard has gained a loyal fan base among lovers of innovative and high-quality motor yachts. They score first and foremost with performance and an enormous range, consuming on average 70 per cent less fuel than others in their class. The Palm Beach 85 is designed to exceed all standards in terms of luxury, comfort and performance, taking the brand's offering to a new level.

The galley is located in the centre of the salon

The layout with three (or four) cabins and four heads is perfect for trips with friends or extended family. Options start with the Skylounge or Sedan models, as well as twin or triple engine packages. The saloon extends over the entire main deck, from the forward helm station to the covered cockpit. The open galley is nicely centred, either to port or forward athwartships. This means that the chefs have everything in view while working and can chat with guests before dinner.

The cabins are located in the 6.75 metre wide belly of the yacht - the owners sleep amidships, their best friends in the bow. There is also a small room with two single beds. The relatively large and comfortable crew quarters are striking, unlike many yachts in the 80-foot range.

Like every motor yacht from the shipyard, the PB85 has been given V-Warp® technology, a design from the creative mind of Mark Richards and his team. This includes a special hull shape - pointed at the front, flat at the rear - so that the boat planes with minimal effort and maintains an angle of five degrees over the entire speed curve. In addition, the construction "merges" with the superstructure and the furniture to form a stable overall package. There are two engine options to choose from: two Volvo Penta IPS engines for 26 knots top speed or two V8 MAN modules for 27.5 knots maximum.

Mark Richards is more than proud: "The Palm Beach 85 is a dream come true. As a young man, I worked on the docks in Sydney and watched the yachts sailing through the harbour. And I knew that one day I would do the same on my own boat. When the PB85 sets sail, it will be the biggest yacht we have ever built. And it will represent a new level of luxury, fuel efficiency and performance in the yachting industry."

Uske was born just outside Volkswagen in 1970 and tested various small boats with sails through her boyfriend (now husband 😊) on a quarry pond. Her studies in Kiel took her to the Baltic Sea with boats of all kinds and eventually to a regatta from Hong Kong to Mauritius via the Academic Sailing Club. Her teacher training ended at the Burda School of Journalism in Munich instead of in the classroom and finally at Boote Exclusiv. After a long break and various stories about house building, she returned to Delius Klasing and has been filling the magazine with long stories about large ships ever since. A family-owned H-boat was quickly sold again as the mother realized that sailing with two small children was neither relaxing nor fun.
