With a length of 27.11 metres, the X90 clearly falls within the superyacht segment. However, the focus is neither on performance (top speed: 27 knots) nor on the handling characteristics of the HPP hull form developed by Bernard Olesinski. With this new addition to its range, Princess places particular emphasis on practical spaces that can be used in different ways at any time. And a understated interior.
Two new features for the shipyard catch the eye as soon as you step into the cockpit. Firstly, the two folding balconies on the port and starboard sides, and secondly, this door. Whilst the water in the Jacuzzi splashes behind the observer (at the owner’s request), one stands in front of a semi-circular, movable glass wall. This opens up the saloon dining area, which seats ten people, to the outside. When closed, the views of the water remain unobstructed.
When it comes to the galley, the owners also have the option of choosing between an open-plan layout with a breakfast bar and a fully enclosed space. This allows the chefs to work in peace without disturbing the guests.
Another distinctive feature of the Princess X90 is the location of the owner’s suite. The room, which features a sofa and a writing or make-up table, is situated at the forward end of the main deck and has such large windows that it can serve as a retreat during longer stays on board. A door leads directly onto the private terrace at the bow.
The basic principle of the X-Class is the so-called Super Flybridge, which also applies to the X90. In this case, the main helm station is located in a compartment that can be locked via sliding doors. This has the advantage of leaving more living space on the main deck. Depending on your preference, the flybridge can serve as an additional saloon, a sun deck or a mooring space for the tender.
Right from its debut, it was clear that the concept had been a hit. “The X90 is a resounding success,” says Princess CEO Will Green, “seven have been sold, three of which are already under construction”. Two of these customers are new to the Princess family, whilst five are from “within our own ranks” and wish to upgrade to a larger model.
