The creative designs originally came from the drawing tables at SFG Yacht Design and Fancy by Dada. Cristiano Gatto was actually only supposed to design some furniture, but was then commissioned to create a larger package: "We changed some of the proportions and lines and extended the stern section by around two metres," says Gatto. He is keeping details of the interior a secret. "The process from the first renderings to an interior concept took ten months," he explains, "an extraordinary time frame for a 40-metre project."
With a volume of 370 gross tonnes, EVO is designed to offer plenty of space for ten guests, including an owner's area on the upper deck. The 8.52 metre wide aluminium yacht is not a completely new design, EVO is based on a proven platform by Diana Yacht Design and Ginton Naval Architects, who designed a fast displacement yacht that is ABS A1 class compliant, meets IMO Tier III regulations and delivers a top speed of around 24 knots with the help of two MTU engines. At a speed of ten knots, the operating radius is 2,200 nautical miles. "Project EVO is a good example of customers coming to us with their own exterior designers. Without having to reinvent the wheel when it comes to the hull," explains Van der Valk Sales Director Yoeri Bijker. The 300-tonne truck should be ready in 2025.
