The Dutch Mulder shipyard always builds out of aluminium, including the 36-metre flagship model ThirtySix. The seventh unit was christened "Q43" and set off on its maiden voyage to Norway

Mulder operates successfully in the 15 to 36 metre yacht segment, always built from aluminium and with a high level of vertical integration. The Dutch shipyard regularly launches projects without owners, pre-finances the construction and looks for buyers. With "on-spec" projects, they receive a shortened construction and therefore waiting time, as a large part of the design is calculated and parts of the production process are standardised. During construction, minimal adjustments can be made to the exterior, while the interior - depending on the progress of construction - can be fully customised.

Mulder shortens delivery times

This is what the family-run company does with the popular Favorite cruisers, but also with the flagship model ThirtySix. The family business debuted with the fast, 36-metre-long aluminium displacer in 2017; the first model was called "Delta One" and is currently for sale. The seventh ThirtySix "Q43" has now been delivered. The sale was finalised following a presentation by Ocean Independence at the Fort Lauderdale International Boat Show (FLIBS) in 2022 and a visit to the shipyard shortly afterwards. Six months later, the hot work on the hull and deck was completed at Mulder's hull production facility in Enkhuizen.

An interior for coffee connoisseurs

Work continued at the headquarters in Zoeterwoude with the outfitting and interior design in consultation with the British Vickers Studio. According to Mulder, the owners are coffee lovers and requested two bars in the saloon and one in the beach club. "Q43" offers a five-cabin layout with space for ten guests and six crew members. John Vickers said: "Our brief was to create a second home for a family who are new to yachting and want to experience all sorts of adventures and tours."

Mulder employs more than 75 people full-time at three locations and a further 75 on a freelance basis. The family-run company has an eighth ThirtySix under construction, again on a speculative basis and with possible completion in the first quarter of 2025. After casting off in the Netherlands, "Q43" travelled to Norway at a maximum speed of 16.8 knots. Mulder will be showing the seventh ThirtySix at the Cannes Yachting Festival from 10 to 15 September and at the Fort Lauderdale Boat Show from 30 October to 3 November.
