"Reverie": The 80-metre concept was given minimalist winch lines and a hull by the designers at Lateral Naval Architects
Winch Design and Lateral Naval Architects have worked together to realise an 80-metre-long Oceanco project. We present the project

The basis of the "Simply Custom" concept is a highly efficient hull that is fully electrically powered by pods; alternatively, the yacht can run on low-emission biodiesel. The designers wanted to create the most environmentally friendly long-distance yacht possible with a range of around 5000 nautical miles.

The Winch team drew inspiration for the design from their daydreams, or "reveries". Jim Dixon, head and creative director of the yacht department, had the idea for the concrete realisation while looking out of the window of his London office. "From our studio on the Thames, we can see the beauty of a barge and the natural charm of the rocky water's edge," he explains. True to the Winch approach: "Simple references create strong concepts." And so the yacht was given ultra-clean hull lines and softly rounded superstructures that are almost pointed at the stern. From a bird's eye view, you can see ellipses that wrap asymmetrically around an imaginary centre. The plans indicate a volume of 2500 to 2700 gross tonnes, a generous amount of space for 14 guests.

Winch Design creates concept for dynamic owners

The interior and exterior spaces are intended to merge seamlessly into equally utilised living units - a concept that, according to Winch Design, "goes hand in hand with the fast-changing lifestyle of a dynamic owner". In addition, the clever division of the living areas should mean that little cooling is required from air conditioning systems. The centrepiece is a multi-level beach wellness area with a spa, gym and water access on the lower deck as well as a shaded pool and bar. The associated lounge on the main deck is semi-enclosed and is intended as a meeting place for friends and family. Owners enjoy privacy, with floor-to-ceiling windows from their suite at the front offering a magnificent panorama and a pool terrace. Alternatively, the Winch designers could move the master suite aft and provide private access to the sun deck. The remaining guests would have suites on the forward upper deck and their own lounge. Other "Simply Custom" projects are being developed with the likes of Espen Øino, Hot Lab, H2, Team for Design and Nuvolari Lenard.
